Walter Vosburgh Photography         Celebrating The Black and White Photograph

Artist Statement

Much of this work is about solitude

and isolating the isolated.

These images are a portion of those made by the photographer from 1978 to present (2010).  More, of course, will be added over time.

All are black and white negative (film) based; most are 35mm format, some are 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" format.  Except for the Antarctica and Petra images, all are scanned digital prints based upon the original negative and processed using the latest software and archival inks on some of the finest archival papers available.  The Antarctica and Petra images are scanned selenium toned gelatin silver prints processed in the traditional darkroom manner.

Both approaches to fine printing are remarkably similar in judgmental requirements and result.
